Given that relatively few prime ministers in Japan seem to last more than a year or two, I'm not sure the curse of lack of longevity at the job is that significant. I mean Koizumi was PM for several years and he lived there.

The wife and I, for reasons, recently tried to remember when various PMs in the 1980s/90s were on the job and realized that we can't. Beyond Takeshita being PM for announcing Heisei. Interchangeable wrinkled space aliens in suits for the most part

'Interchangeable wrinkled space aliens in suits' - excellent! And I agree, Japan's power-behind-the-throne politics is probably more significant than ghosts in explaining revolving-door premierships. I do like a good ghost story / ghost-sighting though...!

Let's hope the curse will work this time too!

Is this residence that Koizumi was alledged to have strolled around the gardens in his underwear singing opera?

The February 26th incident has a connection with the history of figure skating in Japan via the old Sanno Hotel (now US services club?).https://www.skateguardblog.com/2016/09/skating-at-old-sanno-hotel.html?m=1

I read on another blog that the reason the lads holed up in the hotel was because one of the young ladies who trained at the rink was the granddaughter of a naval officer of the Russo-Japanese war.

Maybe Takaishi can put her drum kit to good use and send the ghosts packing!

I love the idea of Takaichi's drums scaring off the ghosts...! I hadn't heard the Koizumi story before. Rumour has it that he arranged a private exorcism before moving into the residence, but I can imagine a man in his underwear singing Wagner having a similar impact on those poor unfortunate ghosts... 😂

Interesting. Perhaps it was built on land with a more sordid past from an earlier period in history.

Maybe so! That part of Tokyo has hundreds of years of history to it - plenty of opportunity for something nefarious to have gone down...

Thank you for reading, and that's fascinating about the feel of certain buildings/memorials. It's not something I've ever experienced myself, but I envy those who do/can.
