OTOH the arguments for why are not being made clearly, which is I think a mistake and has the potential to cause domestic issues as and when opposition happens
I agree, and it slightly mirrors Japan's non-debate on migration. Politicians have preferred to fudge these things - not that Japan is unique in that, I should add!
